New Testament scholar Gary Burge has utilized evangelical news sources to assess recent opinion trends among evangelical Christians. He finds that younger believers, concerned about injustice, have adopted a balanced approach toward the Middle East. This new generation tends to support peace, security, and prosperity for both Israelis and Palestinians without privileging one group over the other.

Dr. Gary Burge is a professor at Calvin Theological Seminary (Michigan), having previously taught for 25 years on the faculty of Wheaton College (Illinois). Ordained in the Presbyterian Church, USA, he has served as a chaplain in the U.S. Navy. His autobiographical essay appears on this website, on the "Why I Am Not A Christian Zionist" page.
