Archbishop Desmond Tutu was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his inspiring work to end apartheid and promote reconciliation in his home country of South Africa. He also spoke out against injustices around the world. On the subject of the Middle East, Tutu said, “I wish I could keep quiet about the plight of the Palestinians. I can't!”

Tutu died on December 26, 2021. Honoring his legacy and quoting his observations about Israel-Palestine, Middle East Eye posted an article on the day of his death.
