REV. MUNTHER ISAAC CREDIT: CHINA GRADUATE SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY

Growing up in the West Bank of Occupied Palestine, Palestinian Christian Munther Isaac saw no connection between his faith and the military occupation of his native land. But after years of enduring checkpoints with armed Israeli guards and battling his consequent anger, he concluded, “I have to do something.” Munther attended Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and then returned to Palestine to call for equality between Israelis and Palestinians. He now serves as the academic dean of Bethlehem Bible College, pastor of Christmas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bethlehem, and director of the Christ at the Checkpoint conference. He is also the author of The Other Side of the Wall, published by InterVarsity Press.

This article regarding Isaac’s remarkable life journey was written by Naomi Zeveloff, an editor at the Committee to Protect Journalists. Zeveloff has contributed articles to The ForwardThe WorldThe Atlantic, and NPR. The article was posted on February 4, 2022 at Religion Unplugged.
